NIRAMRIT FOODS PVT. LTD.

A. Objectives

The rapidly increasing pace of life has simultaneously brought about corresponding alterations in the way of life of the people. With economic prosperity, the average earning capacity of the people has risen leading to higher number of luxury items with them. However, it also entails that the public would have to put in longer hours at work and have less time to spend with family and friends, cook and attend to other household chores. As a result, food is being increasingly ordered from outside, mostly from fast food chains delivering dishes like noodles, burgers, momos, pizzas, macaroni, pasta and spaghetti. Largely based on finely ground flour known as ‘maida’ in Hindi, their frequent use has led to greater incidence of obesity, hypertension, diabetes and heart ailments among the young and middle-aged population. Regular consumption of junk food has caused an alarming incidence of impotence among the young men and inability to conceive or in other words barrenness among young women. Its evidence can be gauged by the proliferation of invitro fertilization (IVF) clinics in the big cities.

Although, the hustle and bustle associated with the present work environment, cannot be wished away, yet its harmful consequences can be mitigated through yoga, meditation and consuming natural products. Getting afflicted with a life-threatening disease, often leads to monumental expenses on hospitalization and medicines. It makes greater sense to spend a fraction of that amount on healthy products to obviate the possibility of falling seriously ill. The effort should be to revive the age-old practice of consuming nutritious but light food. Based on this dictum, Niramrit Foods Pvt. Ltd. was launched by a team of committed individuals in the year 2021.

B. The Team

Shri Naveen Chandra Purohit
Shri Naveen Chandra Purohit was born in Delhi and graduated from the University of Delhi. Originally, hailing from the hill state of Uttarakhand, he was inspired by the exploits of Shri Sunderlal Bahuguna, who worked relentlessly for conservation of forests in the mountains and was the founder of Chipko Movement in which the villagers used to hug the trees and prevent the marauders from cutting them. In addition to Shri Purohit’s love for herbs and other natural products, he learnt Yoga from Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, Delhi, which strengthened his belief in living close to nature and natural products. Having worked in the field of international trade and shipping for several years, Shri Purohit realized that foreigners were importing Indian medicinal herbs for manufacturing costly tonics and other health products and the same were being recycled into India at an exorbitant price. He felt that Indians should utilize their traditional knowledge themselves to manufacture such products and then export them to the world. Thus, was born the idea of Niramrit Foods, though in an incubatory form.

Smt. Rajni Chugh
Smt. Rajni Chugh too was born in Delhi and graduated from the University of Delhi. She is a homemaker and got married in a joint family. This provided her with ample opportunity to learn about home remedies for simple ailments from elders in the family. The significance of kitchen is often under emphasized and the task of cooking is taken for granted. Mrs. Chugh has always maintained that health bestowing foods can also be cooked in a delicious manner using conventional Indian ingredients and condiments in the dishes, which are mainly instrumental in preventing diseases and keeping the doctor away. Moreover, she also came to know about some rare herbs and seeds, not commonly found but known for their healing and curative effects.
